organizing an accident is a weekly newsletter where I leak home demos of unreleased songs, first draft lyrics, thoughts on the creative process, & dispatches from music life in Paris.
Listen to “Easy On You” (demo):
This song was written on March 25, 2021
This is demo leak #88
Greetings from Breadtown,
Today’s demo is No. 88 in the organizing an accident series. While I can still be swayed, I’ve decided that I will likely change directions for the project after hitting the 100th song mark, using this space for other purposes.
But that is not for another twelve weeks, so another album’s worth of material is still coming your way.
I hope everyone is transitioning well out of summer. In my opinion, September is so much better than January for affirming new goals and resolutions. What are some of yours for the new season/year?
With love,
Ryan
“Easy On You” lyrics
All these tears we give away
Feeling like I’m already done for
Let me go for both our sakes
‘Cause baby I can’t do it again
From where we started
I couldn’t stand
So close to love
What makes it harder
Is we could’ve been the real thing
But I just wanna go
Easy on you
‘Cause each time it gets harder to quit
And right before I fold
Easy on you
I get tied up in wondering if
It’s foolish
You treat me like a stranger now
Cuts me deeper now that I’m on my own
Day by day it evens out
But who can tell with you anymore?
Too broken-hearted
Too cold to stay
This close to us
What makes it harder
Is I’ve got no more to confess
But I just wanna go
Easy on you
‘Cause each time it gets harder to quit
And right before I fold
Easy on you
I get tied up in wondering if
It’s foolish
Ooooh
I can feel it changing between us
I don’t want to go back down
Ooooh
That road has long been broken
But I can’t look away
