organizing an accident is a weekly newsletter where I leak home demos of unreleased songs, first draft lyrics, thoughts on the creative process, & dispatches from music life in Paris.

This song was written on December 6, 2018
Greetings from Paris,
Towards the end of 2018, the concert bill that appears in the above image took place at one of my favorite venues in lower Manhattan, Nublu.
I’ve played the room a number of times and have also been lucky enough to witness many magical, late-night collaborations with some of the best musicians in New York. It remains one of the few establishments, particularly in Manhattan, that can nurture this kind of energy and spontaneity.
That night in 2018, the show was followed by a DJ set from the legendary drummer/producer Karriem Riggins, known for his work with Common, J. Dilla, Slum Village, Erykah Badu, and so many other favorite artists. After I played, we connected briefly at the bar between sets and I decided I’d follow up with a musical message afterwards.
The next morning, I dug through instrumentals within his vast catalog and wrote a vocal over this particular selection called ‘Cia’ off his album Headnod Suite. You can stream/purchase the album here on Bandcamp.
Next week is the one year anniversary of organizing an accident. Thanks to all who have tuned in to read and listen. It means the world.
With love,
Ryan

I really enjoy this kind of music from you, it's a real vibe with the attempts at spring sunshine outside - more, please.
